How To Get To & Around Tignes

Tignes is well-connected to major European cities, offering multiple ways to reach the resort. Once there, getting around the different villages is easy, whether you choose to ski between them, take advantage of the free shuttle service (available during the ski and summer seasons), or explore on foot.


Getting to Tignes

By Air

Closest Airports:

These airports offer a variety of international and domestic flights, making Tignes accessible from across Europe and beyond.

Transfers from Airports:
  • Shared Shuttles: Affordable services like Ben’s Bus and AlpyBus run regular transfers during the ski season.
  • Private Transfers: For a more personalised experience, private transfer companies such as Cool Bus and Mountain Rescue can take you directly to your accommodation in Tignes.

 

By Train

From Major Cities:
  • The nearest train station to Tignes is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, approximately 30 km away.
  • High-speed TGV trains run regularly from Paris, Lyon, and other major cities, with the journey from Paris taking approximately 5 hours.
From London:

During the ski season, you can take the Eurostar from London St Pancras directly to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The journey is about 8 hours, making it an eco-friendly and convenient option for UK travelers.

Transfers from Bourg-Saint-Maurice:
  • Buses: Altibus operates regular buses from the train station to Tignes.
  • Taxis: For a quicker and more flexible option, local taxis are readily available.

 

By Car

Driving to Tignes:
  • From Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the D902 mountain road leads directly to the resort, offering stunning alpine views.
  • From Lyon or Geneva, the drive takes about 3 hours. In winter, be sure to equip your vehicle with snow chains or winter tires due to road conditions.
Parking in Tignes:
  • The resort offers covered parking facilities in Tignes le Lac and Val Claret, as well as open-air parking lots.

Getting Around Tignes

Tignes offers several efficient transport options within the resort, making it easy to explore and move between villages.

Skiing Between Villages
  • Ski Access: As in many ski resorts, skiing is a practical way to move between Tignes' main villages, including Tignes le Lac, Val Claret, Tignes Les Boisses, and Tignes Les Brévières. You can easily ski to reach restaurants, shops, and your accommodation.

Free Shuttle Bus
  • Tignes operates a free shuttle bus during the ski and summer seasons, connecting the main villages: Tignes le Lac, Val Claret, Les Boisses, and Les Brévières. There is also a free shuttle service between Tignes and Val d'Isère, making it easy for visitors to explore both resorts.
