The history of this place begins in 1639, when the Countess of Atalaia, D. Iria de Brito, donated some land she owned between Belém and Pedrouços to the Irish Dominican nuns. Thus was born the convent of Bom Sucesso. It was on a part of these grounds, west of the beachfront convent that it took its name, that began to emerge, from 1807, the set of buildings that today forms the “Bom Sucesso”.
