Set in the heart of the famous Portes du Soleil ski area, giving access to over 600 km of ski slopes and 200 ski lifts linking it to every other resort within the Portes du Soleil, Montriond itself has around 77 km of pistes. There are 51 runs in total with some beginner slopes, however, runs are mainly geared towards more intermediate and advanced skiers – l’Abricotine is one of the longest ski runs in the Portes du Soleil area (at 8 km). There are 4 green slopes, 25 blue, 14 red and 6 black with 14 draglifts, 17 chairlifts, 2 cable cars and one mountain lift for those who want to take advantage of the beautiful scenic views by taking the walking trails in summer.
In the summer months, the picturesque lake (Lac Montriond) is a wonderful place for picnics, fishing and water-sports. There are also mountain bike trails, horse riding trails and hiking trails for the nature lovers. In wintertime, non-skiing activities include visiting the main swimming complex, which has a large indoor swimming pool, kiddies splash pool, plunge pool and sauna. There are plenty of shops selling sportswear and souvenirs and you can also take advantages of fun activities such as sledging, snowshoeing, taking a Segway tour, paragliding, ice diving, snowmobiling or even trying your hand at Nordic walking. Montriond is popular amongst skiers for its gastronomy, with a variety of great restaurants serving delicious local fare including raclette and cheese fondue. Although quieter than the larger, better known resorts, the village has all the necessary services and facilities such as medical facilities, ATM, postal service, patisserie and foreign exchange.
Montriond is conveniently situated just over one hour from Geneva airport, and just under two hours from Chambery airport. It is linked to the other resorts by shuttle bus, making it easy to get from one to another.
