Part of the Paridiski area, Les Arcs is comprised of 4 purpose-built resorts, namely, Arcs 1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000. It is linked to neighbouring La Plagne by cable car. There are around 200 km of piste, and 128 runs with slopes geared towards beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. Arcs 1600 is relatively smaller than the other villages, it is pedestrianised with shops, restaurants and all necessary facilities and services. Visitors can take the funicular into the nearby town of Bourg Saint Maurice, which has a few larger supermarkets, a cinema, train station and annual festivals and events.
Arcs 1800 is the largest and busiest village, with many different shops and restaurants to choose from as well as bars and a nightclub. The funicular conveniently runs down to the neighbouring town of Bourg Saint Maurice from this village too. There are spectacular views of the Mont Blanc and a leisure centre with swimming pools, wellness area and spa. The prettiest village is definitely Arcs 1950, completely pedestrianised and with convenient ski-in / ski-out accommodation. The shops and restaurants are good and there are a few bars that play live music.
As with the other villages, the views are panoramic, and activities include dog sledding, snowshoeing, sledging, ice-skating and exploring the ice caves. Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, swimming, playing golf and horse riding. Arcs 2000 also has attractive chalets and apartments as well as restaurants and bars with live music.
