How it all started

Founder Dylan Mitchell’s Journey

From a Surf Trip to an International Property Business

It began with a spontaneous trip to Biarritz in 2001. While working in London’s finance sector, a friend and I—both surf enthusiasts—finally visited the town we’d long talked about. On day one, we stopped outside a local estate agent’s window, got chatting with the agent, and ended up viewing an apartment by the beach. By the end of the day, we’d bought it.

That’s when the real work started. We assumed getting a mortgage would be simple—especially through Barclays, given its presence in both the UK and France. But after months of silence from the French branch, I began calling banks across the country myself, trying to find someone who spoke English and could help. Eventually, we secured the loan—but the experience opened my eyes.

Colleagues began asking for help with French mortgages. What started with a few cases grew rapidly. By 2006, I built a team, and by 2009, we expanded beyond mortgages to help clients find the right property too. In 2018, we evolved fully into an international buyers’ agency, working alongside our established brokerage.

Today, we help clients buy property and secure mortgages across France, Spain, Portugal, Mauritius, and beyond. Our close relationships with high-street and private banks—plus our network of English-speaking lawyers, accountants, and other experts—means we can support clients from start to finish.
