In 1858, Mr. Pierre Gonnet, a maître d’hotel by profession, called upon the architect Laurent Vianay to build the first hotel-pension on the Croisette: the Gonnet Hotel.

Enlarged in 1859, the hotel was bought in 1863 by Franíçois Daumas, a friend of Mr. Gonnet, who, as a courtesy to the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Empress of India, Victoria, named it “Hôtel Gonnet et de la Reine”.

Raised and enlarged in 1883, it was transformed into a palace with a magnificent white facade decorated with blue balustrades.

The Daumas family remained owners until 1988, when it was demolished.
