With 21 km of sandy, white beaches and clear, warm water that never dips below 18 degrees Celsius. The climate is mild and pleasant with around 315 days of sunshine a year, making it an incredible popular destination for tourists from all over the world. Most beaches are well equipped with bars, restaurants, cafes and water-sports schools that offer activities such as sailing, wind-surfing, kite-surfing, diving, kayaking and fishing. There are also a number of promenades alongside the beaches, which have a number of different shops and boutiques. On land, activities range from golf and tennis to cycling or perusing the local markets. The nightlife can be quite dynamic, particularly in the summer months, with live music and entertainment, discotheques and dance parties. The La Manga strip is a strip of land separating the Mediterranean ocean from the Mar Menor (small sea). It is 21km long and 300m wide, with beautiful white sandy beaches, rocky outcrops, marinas and a large selection of restaurants, bars, hotels and boutiques. The La Manga Club Resort is particularly popular with tourists, with its award winning sport and leisure facilities, including three 18-hole golf courses, 28-court tennis centres, as well as cricket, rugby and football fields. There are also a variety of restaurants, shops, a supermarket, hairdresser and bars within the resort. Accommodation ranges from studio apartments to private villas with enormous tropical gardens and swimming pools. The typical regional diet is Mediterranean, with seafood, rabbit and lamb featuring prominently. For dessert, don’t miss out on the delicious local Jijona (nougat) ice cream, made with almonds from the region. On Sunday mornings don’t miss out on the Mercadillo de Cabo, which is a popular market selling fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables, meats and seafood as well as local hand made crafts and second hand stalls. La Manga is around 40 km from Murcia San Javier Airport.
