The third largest of the Canary Islands, with golden, sandy beaches and crystalline waters backed by an awe-inspiring mountain range. There are numerous water-based activities including sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, snorkelling, stand up paddle boarding, wind-surfing and kite-surfing to name a few. On land, you can hike, cycle, play golf, tennis, go go-carting or explore one of the many shopping centres on the island. Playa del Ingles is Gran Canarias most famous resort. It is purpose-built with excellent facilities and a beautiful promenade along the beachfront. There are many different restaurants and cafes to choose from as well as nightclubs and bars. Las Palmas on the other hand is a lovely cosmopolitan city and highlights include Mercado de Vegueta where you will find fresh produce local produce such as vegetables and cheeses, museums as well as a golf course. There are many different shops selling everything from designer clothes and perfumes to handmade arts and crafts and souvenirs. Maspalomas is an upmarket resort, with pristine beaches and magnificent sand dunes. There is a water park as well as an attraction park by the name of Holiday World which are great entertainment for the whole family.
