As one of the magnificent Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has spectacular golden, sandy beaches with numerous water-based activities including sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, snorkelling, stand up paddle boarding, wind-surfing and kite-surfing to name a few. A little further inland you can explore the lava fields and traditional villages. Corralejo is probably the most popular town on the island, with sandy beaches and secluded coves as well as plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. You will find a wide variety of food served on the island, but local specialities include pork, paella, tapas and lots of fresh, delicious seafood. On the eastern side of the island you will find Caleta de Fuste which is incredibly popular with families as it has many attractions for young children such as a zoo and waterpark. There is a good selection of shops and restaurants here too, as well as a cinema and golf course. The resort of Costa de Antigua is smaller and a little less touristy, with quieter beaches and secluded coves. It is conveniently located just 10 minutes’ drive from Fuerteventura airport.
