Situated in the Grand Massif ski area and with the relevant ski lift pass giving visitors access to 265 km of slopes varying in difficulty level (22 green, 61 blue, 49 red and 13 black) serviced by 72 lifts. Sixt has a beautiful 12th century abbey, with the river Giffre splitting the town in two, it is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. There are magnificent views extending out over the grand mountains, a natural reserve with exquisite waterfalls and the village itself has a traditional Alpine feel to it. As most of the slopes are north-facing, the snow conditions are excellent with abundant snowfall throughout the season. Aside from skiing and snowboarding, winter activities include snowshoeing, dog-sledding, paragliding, snowmobiling and helicopter rides. Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, horse riding and mountain climbing. Although small, the village has all the necessities, from shops to restaurants, bars and cafes as well as a boulangerie. Sixt itself has a ski area with a total of 12 pistes (2 green slopes, 4 blue, 5 red and 1 black) with a great nursery slope area for beginners. There is also a regular shuttle bus service that will transport visitors to Morillon and Samoens in about 10 minutes.  This resort is located approximately 50 minute from Geneva airport and around 30 minutes from Cluses train station.
