This authentic, picturesque Savoyard village, La Chapelle d'Abondance, is said to be the most beautiful in the whole of the Haute-Savoie, and is located within the Portes du Soleil ski area, giving visitors access to more than 600 km of ski slopes, connected by over 200 ski lifts. The resort has 50 km of pistes, and 36 runs catering for beginner to advanced level skiers and snowboarders with downhill skiing, cross country, sledding and snowshoeing. There are a total of 6 green slopes, 12 blue and 5 red as well as 102 drag lifts, 81 chair lifts and 13 gondolas. Non-skiing activities include husky sledding, handiski, tobogganing, horse-drawn carriage tours, paragiding and farm visits. You can even eat in an igloo if you fancy. In the summer months, activities include fishing, white water rafting, mountain biking and hiking.

The summer lift system gives you the opportunity to view the awe-inspiring scenery of the mountains stretching along the France and Swiss border. Although La Chapelle d’Abondance is more of a rustic farming community, there are still some excellent restaurants, pizzerias and apre ski bars for visitors to enjoy, in fact there is even a micro-brewery that you can visit. The village has all the necessary services and amenities such as a tourist office, ATM, post office, medical facilities, shops, currency exchange services and of course a patisserie. If you are visiting with children you will find that there are adequate childcare services, a playground and ski lift services specifically for children.

The closest airport is Geneva, which is 52 km away. Alternative airports are Chambery, which is 101km, Lyon Airport is 145 km and Grenoble Airport is 153 km away. If you are traveling by rail, Thonons-Les Bains train station is approximately 35km and there is a regular bus service you can take, which will bring you to the village centre.
